Scent Work

What dog doesn’t love to sniff?!?  The sport of canine scent work channels that sniffing behavior into a fun game – and can be a great confidence booster for soft or shy dogs, by letting them solve problems with their inherent dog superpower!  It also is a great chance for handlers to step back & let the dog work independently – and improve handler & dog communication.  The sport of scent work involves searching for Q-tips scented with essential oils (birch, anise, clove & others), but Step 1 of scent work is to create a dog who loves to search!  The goal of scent work 1 is to create a start line routine for dog and handler and to get your dog searching confidently for food in different environments!  Scent Work 2 will introduce odor.

Dogs not working will be crated in the class so that all students are able to watch each dog work without distraction.
