Puppy & "Tweener" Classes
Puppy Socialization and "Tweener" Classes are held on an on-going basis on Monday and Thursday evenings. New class participants welcomed each night.
Pre-registration is not required to attend these classes and you may start at any time. Simply show up shortly before class with an application form, payment, and immunization records (required).
Do not feed the puppy before class. Also, the puppy should wear a buckle collar and a leash. Bring any tiny, tasty food rewards and a favorite toy.

STAR Puppy
This AKC program is similar to the Canine Good Citizen test but is easier and designed just for puppies. Show that you are a responsible dog owner and have gotten your puppy off to a good start with socialization and a start on basic training. Earn your puppy’s first frameable certificate and an Olympic-style medal! Prerequisite: You must have taken Puppy or Tweeners class at TCOTC and puppy must be under one year of age. Attend STAR Puppy for just 2 weeks, Thursdays at 8:15 pm. Cost $30. Preregistration not required. Instructors: Julie Humiston and Nancy Herlofsky
Puppy Socialization
These classes are limited to younger puppies starting class no later than 12 weeks of age. This course covers basic socialization, housetraining, walking on a leash, basic grooming, coming when called, and staying in place. Common problems such as chewing, jumping, digging, and barking will be addressed. This class meets one hour per week for 4 weeks. You may start at anytime. There is no official "first class." Payment is made for blocks of four classes. Graduates from this class will be able to go on to Level One obedience. They do not need to go to Tweener’s class.
- Monday: *4 week sessions: 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm on-going
- Thursday: *4 week sessions: 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm on-going
Fees: Cash or check only (no credit cards.) Cost is $55 per 4 week session. This includes homework sheets and a training booklet by Terry Ryan. Class is open to current members (annual membership dues: $15 (single) or $25 (household).
Applications may be filled out on the first night of class.

Puppy "Tweener" Class
Limited to older puppies starting class from 13 weeks to 20 weeks of age that have not taken the puppy socialization class. The class covers basic house manners like walking on a loose leash, socialization, coming when called, staying in place and age appropriate play. Handlers will learn responsible dog ownership, develop a positive relationship with their dog and learn leadership skills. This class meets one hour per week for 4 weeks. You may start at anytime. There is no official "first class." Payment is made for blocks of four classes. Graduates of this class will be ready for Level 1 obedience classes.
- Monday: 4 week sessions: 5:50 pm – 6:50 pm on-going
- Thursday: 4 week sessions: 5:50 pm – 6:50 pm on-going
