At this year’s Annual Awards Banquet on February 4, instructor Steve Hansen was honored with the 2016 Dale Weyhrich Spirit Award in recognition of his perpetual cheerfulness and the tremendous positive support he offers his students and fellow instructors. Steve teaches a number of obedience classes and trains in agility with his border collies, Enzo and Xena.
The board also named Vanessa Niemi as the 2016 Volunteer of the Year for the countless hours she has contributed to the club over the last year. When not training with her German shepherd, Baxter, she manages the club’s retail store, staffs the front desk and has begun apprenticing as an assistant instructor.
Also at the Awards Banquet, 58 dogs and their handlers were recognized for earning a total of 282 titles in 2016. Additionally, 49 dogs and handlers were honored for their advanced achievements in the last year.
