Volunteer at your club!

Volunteers are the heart and soul of TCOTC. From setting up for trials or the staffing the front desk to assistant teaching or serving on the board, there is a volunteer opportunity for you. It’s a great way to get involved in your club and learn more about dog training and dog sports. And, in some cases, you can earn free classes!

One-time and ongoing opportunities to volunteer happen year-round. Ask at the front desk or check here often to see what our current needs are.

Current volunteer opportunities:

Ring Cleaning, Oct. 3 & 4: Prepare for upcoming trials by shampooing mats and cleaning ring barriers. Tuesday, October 3 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday, October 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Come either day for part or all of the time. Contact Anne at anneschenk@tcotc.com to sign up.

Tracking Test Volunteers, Oct. 28 & 29: We’re looking for a few track layers for the fall TDX test October 28 & 29. It’s easy to learn on the spot and we will train. Anyone interested can contact Ted Jewell at nigelbeag@aol.com. We’re also seeking hospitality volunteers, including a Hospitality Coordinator to organize the food donations for both Saturday and Sunday, purchase needed items, and prepare lunch items for Sunday‘s lunch.

Front Desk/Customer Service: Duties include checking in students for class, processing registrations and payments, and retail sales. Training is provided. Familiarity with computers and retail or customer service experience is a plus. This position earns credit toward training classes!

Agility Course Set-Up Crew: Most Sunday evenings. Crew meets for 1-2 hours to set up the agility course for the upcoming week of classes. Perks include being able to bring your dog to run the course.

Ongoing Activities: Monday and Wednesday Days. Help with cleaning, equipment organizing, etc.

Other volunteer opportunities:

  • Trials and Tournaments: assist with set-up and clean-up as well as during the trial
  • Club Maintenance Crew: help with cleaning, painting, minor repairs
  • Publicity and Outreach: help with TCOTC’s marketing and public outreach activities

If you would like to help with these or other club activities, contact Anne Schenk at anneschenk@tcotc.com or ask your instructor next time you are at the club!
