Volunteers are the heart and soul of TCOTC. From setting up for trials or the staffing the front desk to assistant teaching or serving on the board, there is a volunteer opportunity for you. It’s a great way to get involved in your club and learn more about dog training and dog sports. And, in some cases, you can earn free classes!
One-time and ongoing opportunities to volunteer happen year-round. Ask at the front desk or check here often to see what our current needs are.
Current volunteer opportunities:
Minnesota State Fair Demo Dog: We are looking for dogs to demonstrate tricks, training and other skills at the State Fair on Tuesday, August 29 between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. If your dog has basic or advanced skills in obedience or agility, tracking or tricks, you should consider this exciting opportunity!
Any member is welcome to volunteer. Demo dogs must be at least 6 months old and must be approved in advance by a TCOTC instructor. You will receive half off your State Fair ticket. A limited number of free parking passes for volunteers who carpool from TCOTC will be available. Sign up at the club or send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested.
We are also looking for people who can assist with loading and transporting equipment to and from the fair. Contact Katie Brittan at email@example.com if you are interested.
Front Desk/Customer Service: Duties include checking in students for class, processing registrations and payments, and retail sales. Training is provided. Familiarity with computers and retail or customer service experience is a plus. This position earns credit toward training classes!
Agility Course Set-Up Crew: Most Sunday evenings. Crew meets for 1-2 hours to set up the agility course for the upcoming week of classes. Perks include being able to bring your dog to run the course.
Ongoing Activities: Monday and Wednesday Days. Help with cleaning, equipment organizing, etc.
Other volunteer opportunities:
- Trials and Tournaments: assist with set-up and clean-up as well as during the trial
- Club Maintenance Crew: help with cleaning, painting, minor repairs
- Publicity and Outreach: help with TCOTC’s marketing and public outreach activities
If you would like to help with these or other club activities, contact Anne Schenk at firstname.lastname@example.org or ask your instructor next time you are at the club!
