Tracking is a sport that demonstrates a dog’s natural ability to recognize and follow the scent trail of a person. Trained dogs are kept on leash in a field and expected to follow an aged scent trail as their person follows along behind them. The judges also follow and determine how successful the dog is at navigating the trail. Dogs that pass the test earn the AKC title “TDX” (Tracking Dog Excellent).

Those wishing to enter our trial can download the PREMIUM and ENTRY FORM here. Spectators are asked to keep their distance to avoid creating cross tracks that could confuse the dog. The best way to learn more about the tracking test and get closer to the action is to volunteer.

Can you walk a straight line? Do you like the outdoors? Can you spare some time on Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27? If you answered yes, then you can volunteer to be a track layer for our test. We are also in need of a volunteer (or volunteers) to coordinate and run hospitality for this year’s tracking test. Contact TCOTC through the form below to volunteer or if you have any questions.
