Club Days
In 2008, we started the “Club Day” sessions, with the goal of offering new and exciting learning experiences to club members. Club Day is open to all members and is organized by TCOTC members. A new topic is covered each month. Admission is free. Preregistration required unless otherwise noted. Sign-up sheets are on the counter at the club with the class sign-up sheets.
Club Days Needs Your Help
Mickey Bruzek and Cathy Whitney have volunteered to research new class ideas, schedule speakers and advertise all club day events. But we need help to get everything organized. That’s where the club members come in. We need to form a committee of volunteers who will help with set-up, tear down and other fun responsibilities. You do not need any experience to volunteer for this committee. We have some club members who are experienced in managing club events and can coach the committee as needed. Please email clubdays@tcotc.com if you can help.
Upcoming topics:
March 26, 7pm - 9pm &
March 27, 10am - noon
Tracking classes start in April. March 26th & 27th we will have a meeting (similar to the orientation done for obedience) where we give information on tracking, the classes and the equipment needed. We will do our orientation in the meeting room. You may sign up for either date.

What is My Dog Saying? Presented by Julie Humiston. Dogs have a subtle and complex language that most people don't understand -- body language! Join TCOTC obedience instructor Julie Humiston for a great slide and video show on the intricacies of dog communication. Learn what your dog, and other dogs, are saying to you
and each other. Your training and your relationship with your dog will leap forward. This is a must if you go to dog parks.
Julie is a CPDT (Certified Professional Dog Trainer) and besides teaching at TCOTC, has her own private dog training business. Before becoming a full time trainer she spent 5 years as a dogwalker, going to the dog park every day and learning about how dogs interact.

MVMA Dog Bite Prevention Program with speaker Dr. Teresa Hershey - Between 1998 and 2005, the incidents of dog bites increased 40%. During that same time frame, 24,584 Minnesotans required medical attention from a dog bite. 849 of these people required hospitalization, and one patient died. Greater then 18.6 million dollars in health care costs were wracked up due to dog bite injuries during this period. (Minnesota Medicine, July 2007)
The MVMA Dog Bite Prevention Program teaches children how to:
• Approach and pet a dog safely
• What is safe and unsafe with a dog
• Basic dog body language
• How to STAND LIKE A TREE or LIE LIKE A LOG if a strange dog approaches you.
This program was developed for children 1st through 6th grade, but older children and adults will also benefit. Contact Mickey Bruzek/Cathy Whitney at clubdays@tcotc.com for more details.
