Specialty Classes


2x2 weave class

We will be offering a 2x2 weave class beginning February 20. This is a 9 week class that will run for 1 hour and 15 minutes.  The class fee is $100. This class is limited to only 4 dogs and handlers!

 

We are accepting students who are referred by their instructors (or if they aren’t currently our agility students, we will arrange an alternate method). We are basically wanting to be sure the teams are ready for this type of training.

 

Treibball

Be the first to learn this fun new dog sport that combines elements of herding and soccer. Your dog learns to round up large balls and push them into a goal net. $110-9 sessions.

Tuesdays - 5:50 - 6:50. Give this fun new sport a try!

Observer Class

An intro to reading dog body language and understanding the science behind positive reinforcement. Required for new staff. Highly recommended for current staff! Instructor - Jane Jacobson $110 - 9 weeks  Starting January 25, 2012 - Wednesdays

 

Fee reimbursed after assisting in 2-9 week sessions.

Tricks!

New class starting Feb 20 - 8:15 pm!!!

Class Description: This class will focus on teaching the dog tricks including bow, wave, weaving through legs, and putting away toys. The handler will learn several methods to train tricks.  The class is five weeks.

Class Fee: $50 + membership dues. Class meets 5 times.

Pre-requisites: Obedience Level 1.

Dogs and Storks

Dogs and StorksProgram Basics: Dogs & Storks is a national program for expecting families with dogs. It is designed to help you plan and prepare for baby's arrival, specifically with your dog(s) in mind. Learn basic dog body language, how to handle the homecoming, critical safety tips and much more.

Loose Leash Walking

New class starting Mondays - Match 26 - 8:15 pm

Class Description: This class will focus on walking with the dog on a loose leash. The handler dog team will learn how to train the dog to look at the handler while walking past other people or people with dogs. At least one training session will be completed outside. Other skills that will be taught are "leave it", change of pace, arching and parallel walking.

Class Fee: $40 + membership dues. Class meets 4 times.

Canine Freestyle (Dancing with Dogs)

Class Description: This class will be taught by Freestyle competitor Lynnette Gandl. Class size will be limited to 8 handler/dog teams to allow for more individual coaching.

Class Fee: $90 + membership dues, class meets 6 times.

Pre-requisites: Since a lot of the work includes heeling, your dog should have comparable heeling skills as taught in level 3.

Registration Process: Club membership is required to attend classes at TCOTC. A membership application is included on the application.
